Today homesickness hit me full force. Perhaps it’s because the mini-series is wrapped and I feel like everything is finished here. Whatever the reason, today I just felt like going home and being able to relax and sleep in my own bed. This morning I was finally able to video-chat with Merrie back in Tucson so that helped quite a bit. We chatted for about an hour and I was also able to see my dog, Montague. The 9-hour time difference has been tough to keep in touch with the people I love.
Mosquitoes are eating me alive here. I have roughly 15 bites on each arm and hand. I am painfully itchy all day long. It’s an inconvenience that my Arizona upbringing did not prepare me for. It has been putting me on edge from the moment I wake up until I go to sleep at night. When I see a mosquito in my room I hunt it down with earnest vengeance. From an outsider, I must look like a maniac stalking around my room, whipping my head all around trying to track the evil insects and clapping every few seconds.
I went back to Charlie’s for lunch today and ran into Dan who was eating his last meal in Italy. We chatted for a little while before he left to get some trinkets to take home. After lunch, I took a long walk around the city before heading back to the apartment to relax for the rest of the night.
